Irish in Belfast - Gaeilge i mBéal Feirste

    http://www.culturlann.ie/

An Chultúrlann is a great place to start if you're looking to explore Irish in Belfast. It's a cool old building on the Falls road that used to be a Presbyterian Church. The full name of the building is Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich and it was named in honour of Roibeard McAdam, a Presbyterian businessman who pioneered the revival of the Irish language in 19th century Belfast and Tomás Ó Fiaich, a 20th century Irish language enthusiast.

An Chultúrlann has three storeys, containing a 130-seat restaurant, a 110-seat theatre/conference space, the Gerard Dillon Gallery where regular exhibitions take place, a book/gift shop catering for Irish language and Irish interest. It's also got an official tourist information point which you can use to find accommodation.

Comhartha sóirt ar spéirlíne Iarthar Bhéal Feirste le breis agus céad bliain, tá Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich, 216 Bóthar na bhFál, i gcroílár phobal Gaeilge Bhéal Feirste. I 1991 a bunaíodh í i seaneaglais Phreispitéireach an Phríomhbhealaigh, agus ainmníodh í as Roibeard McAdam, fear gnó Preispitéireach a bhí ar cheannródaithe athbheochan na Gaeilge i mBéal Feirste sa 19ú céad agus Tomás Ó Fiaich, crann seasta na Gaeilge san fhichiú céad.

Sa lá inniu tá bialann 130 suíochán sa lárionad 3 urlár cultúir agus ealaíon, amharclann/fairsing chomdhála 110 suíochán, dánlann Gerard Dillon áit a mbíonn taispeántais ar bhonn rialta, siopa leabhar/bronntanas a riarann ar lucht spéise Gaeilge agus Gaelachais. Is ann fosta atá ionad oifigiúil eolais turasóireachta a chuideoidh leat, i measc rudaí eile, cóiríocht a shocrú i mBéal Feirste.

I visited the Culturlann in December from Canada.  It is a great place to meet up with friends, have a cup of coffee, and use your Irish.  One of the cheapest breakfasts in the city!

Everyone was very helpful and they have a great selection of CDs and books.  Great work!
